Glacier guiding Nigardsbreen: Special Blue Ice Hike

If you would like to experience a more challenging glacier tour on the NIGARDSBREEN, you can join a longer glacier hike incl. ice climbing in the blue ice on Nigardsbreen Glacier in the Jostedalen valley.

In small groups of max. 6 people, you can enjoy a more demanding blue ice trek and you will also try out some exciting ice climbing on a steep ice wall with a pair of climbing axes and completely safe because of the top rope.

From 2017 is also the entrance to the exhibition at Breheimsenteret included. (Does not apply to groups).

Date and time:

10.07 - 25.08. Monday - Saturday 

Meeting time 10:15 at the equipment depot (sign GUIDE) next to the toilet at the Nigardsbreen car park.
Departure 10:30

Duration:

On the ice about 4 hrs. A total of approx. 6 hrs.

The total time is calculated as follow:
Boat transport: 15 min. X 2 plus a little waiting.
Walking to and from the Glacier 30-45 min. X 2
Equip / roping up and instruction approx. 30 min

Agelimit:

Min. 12 years.

Equipment:

Warm, wind- and waterproof clothing, sunglasses, lunch and hiking boots. The clothing must cover the whole body (no shorts or skirts without leggings).

Participants:

Min. of 2 pers. and max. of 6 pers. per guide.

Price:

NOK 910,- incl. complete glacier equipmentand and entrance to the exhibition at Breheimsenteret.

Tickets:

Purchase online or if places left at the Glacier Visitor Centre latest 1 hour before start or directly of your glacier guide. Payment to the guide cash only in NOK.

As a private hike:

1-3 Pers. NOK 3675.- in total.
4-6 Pers. NOK 1025.- per pers.

 Start time:

Upon request. With a start time between 09:30-11:30 the transportation with the  glacier boat is included in the price (10.06-05.09). Otherwise you have to walk by foot to/from the glacier. Duration about 1 hour each way.
