This hike is designed for adults and children from the age of 8 years who would like to get a glimpse of the beauty of the deep blue ice on the Nigardsbreen Glacier.
Please note that the path to the glacier and the route on the glacier itself is quite steep this year and although this blue ice walk is shorter than all the others, the technical difficult level remains the same. Therefore you need outdoor experience, a good balance and medium fitness.
The exhibition at Breheimsenteret (the National Park Visitor Centre) is included (does not apply to groups).

NB! The 12:45 hike does not fit the schedule of the Glacier Bus.
Nigardsbreen parking ground at the equipment depot (sign GUIDE) next to the toilets.
Partly steep terrain on rock secured with fixed ropes, the approach to the glacier can be slippery.
Steep entrance on the ice which is made easier with steps.
Total about 3,5 hours, on the ice about 45 min.
The total time is calculated as follow:
Boat transport: 15 min. x 2 (no waiting for the boat incl.)
Walking to and from the glacier: 1 hour. x 2.
Equip/roping up and instruction: approx. 15-30 min.
Hiking on the glacier about 45 min.
Age limit: Min. 8 years. Children must be accompanied.
Warm, wind- and waterproof clothing, sunglasses, lunch package and solid shoes (trekking boots or sport shoes). The clothing must cover the whole body (no shorts or skirts without leggings). More advices about equipment

NOK 570.- (children under 15 years NOK 470.-) and incl. glacier equipment, the passenger ferry across the Nigardsbreen lake and the exhibition at Breheimsenteret.

Upon request. At a start time between 09:30-13:30 the transportation with the glacier boat t/r is included in the price. Otherwise you have to walk by foot from the glacier and back to the car park. Duration about 1,5 hour (each way).
