The mountaineering company Jostedalen Breførarlag was established in 1987 by the certified mountain guides Steinar Bruheim, Heidi Zimmermann, Thore Stensberg and Arve Tvedt.
Our company is located in Western Norway near the Sognefjord in the valley Jostedalen from where the well-known and popular Nigardsbreen easily is accessed.
We offer guiding and instruction services on glaciers and alpine climbing in the high mountains of the Jostedalsbreen and the Jotunheimen National Park.
The total number of visitors is approx. 13 000 people during the summer season from May till October.
Our team consists of both nationally and internationally qualified glacier- and mountain guides with solid knowledge of local and international mountain areas.
In the main season we employ approx. 30 guides. Most of our employees are from Scandinavia, some even from Nepal.
Our employees from Nepal, Nepal, Tshering Pande Bothe, Jyamchang Bohte, Mingma Tsiri Sherpa, Pasang Tenzing Sherpa, Tshering Pemba Sherpa, Sonam Lama and Densa Bhote are guiding in spring and autumn in the Himalaya treks and expeditions to Mt. Everest and other 8000 m summits. All our Nepali have reached the summit of Everest several times, Mingma even 19 times.
The leaders of Jostedalen Breførarlag: Thore, Heidi , Steinar, Arve and the guides Tshering Pande Bhote, Jyamchang Bhote, Pasang Tenzing Sherpa, Mingman Tsiri Sherpa and Tsering Pemba Sherpa are all internationally qualified mountain guides and members of the international federation of mountain guides (UIAGM/IVBV), providing a guarantee for quality and safety. The qualification is represented in Norway by the Norwegian association of mountain guides (NORTIND).
Jostedalen Breførarlag is a certified NORSK FJELLSPORTFORUM (NF) course holder at the highest level.
We qualify and certify glacier instructors and tour leaders.
Our tour leader and glacier guide are designed by the Norwegian guidelines of Norsk Fjellsportforum (NF).
